Transformative Social Emotional Learning (TSEAL)
At Grant Ranch, we believe it is our responsibility to build student’s skills academically, socially, and emotionally. TSEAL lessons are created by the SEL team and targeted to meet the ever changing needs of our school community. Lessons are created with the Collaborative for Academic Social Emotional Learning (CASEL) competencies in mind and differentiated between Elementary School and Middle School. We encourage families to review the TSEAL units below with your Grizzly and have conversations about the lessons.
Elementary TSEAL:
Mondays are dedicated to Mindfulness and Fridays focus on restorative justice, with SEL content Tuesday-Thursday
- Unit 1: Positive School & Class Culture– August
- Unit 2: Self-Awareness & Self- Regulation– September
- Unit 3: Bullying Prevention, Upstander Behavior, Conflict Resolution (Bully Prevention Month)– October
- Unit 4: Gratitude & Kindness- November
- Unit 5: Circles of Control, Lizard/Wizard Brain, Size of the Problem- December & January
Middle School TSEAL:
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday are dedicated to Study Hall. During Study Hall, students have the opportunity to meet with the teacher they need the most support from/ work to complete, with SEL content Wednesdays & Fridays. MS TSEAL is adapted from Overcoming Obstacles
