MS Language Arts

As a language arts teacher, I love to look at my life as a novel filled with chapters of varying lengths. Having been raised in a military family, with the privilege of being a foreign exchange student due to graduating high school early, I have lived in nine states and three different countries. The next chapter of my life started by attending the University of Central Florida and earning my degree in Film before moving to New York City and working for MTV and HBO. 

I was lucky to translate these skills into the start of my career as an educator and serving as a theater teacher for two years. Having written and published novels for young adults, I pivoted toward language arts to inspire students to find joy in literature and to understand the importance of elevating their reading comprehension and writing abilities. 

Beyond my bachelor’s degree, I have earned my first master’s in curriculum and instruction from The University of Colorado – Denver and a second master’s in education leadership from Regis University. I believe in transparency with my students to help them understand the sky is the limit when it comes to their dreams and aspirations and sending them into the world as better people while they better me.
