I was born in Staten Island, New York and have lived in Colorado since I was a small child. I love to spend time with my friends, family, husband, and our two cats. I enjoy traveling very much as it allows me to experience the different cultures throughout the world! I like theme parks, going to the theater, concerts, yoga, and spending time outdoors when possible….Although, a good movie, my sofa, and a hot cup of tea is always a regular self-care practice of mine.
Throughout most of my adult life, I have worked in the field of human services in some capacity. I have experience with counseling in residential treatment environments, women’s shelters, survivors of assault, and of course school counseling, K-12. I also teach Psychology and Human Services courses at the University level. However, my heart will always be with the school counseling profession. I receive so much fulfillment as a school counselor. There’s something so very special about supporting students in managing their emotions, making decisions, and overcoming academic or personal obstacles. Watching students grow and experience that “A-Ha” moment when everything finally clicks simply makes my heart smile.
As for my education, I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Psychology, Master’s Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in School Counseling, and a PhD in Higher Education Administration. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor, and Licensed Professional School Counselor. I have worked in DPS since 2015, and am so proud to be a Grant Ranch Grizzly!
